Local Charity Focus 4 1 announce their Clinician of the Year!
Now in its second year, this award has been presented by the members of the charity Focus 4 1 to Dr Paul Brain, a psychiatrist in the Community Mental Health Team who works at the Wilson Hospital in Mitcham, and who is employed by South West London St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust.
The award was voted on by the Focus 4 1 membership. Members had to submit why their clinician deserved the award and the group voted on it. Dr Brain won this year due to having “ability to listen actively, showing compassion and empathy, [he] gets straight to the point, [he] validates and involves service users in their recovery.”
Founder and member Vanessa Anenden said of the awards: “I started the initiative in 2015 so members can focus on how clinicians help us.” The winner in that first year was Dr Coekin, a GP based at The Nelson hospital in Wimbledon.
Focus 4 1 is a BAME Adult Mental Health Service User/Carer led group accessible to all adults with a connection to Merton who feel marginalised or socially excluded due to mental health, emotional, or institutional challenges.
