Recruitment of 2 Resident Members
If you believe in the power of local people to affect the health and care services they receive you could be the person we are seeking.
This body is a sub-committee of the Board of Trustees of Merton Voluntary Services Council. It leads on the strategic development of Healthwatch Merton and oversee its operations.
Membership of HWMOC is:
- The HWM Independent Chair
- Four places allocated to representatives from Merton’s voluntary, community and faith organisations selected through an open nomination process
- Four places allocated to residents of Merton selected through an open recruitment process
- A minimum of 1 trustee appointed by the MVSC board and no more than 3 MVSC trustees
- HWM Manager
- The MVSC CEO sitting on the committee as an advisor.
Meetings of HWMOC
These are held every 2 months at the Vestry Hall in Mitcham.
HWMOC members will also be encouraged to attend relevant meetings of the Council, Merton CCG and local organisations specialising in health and care services.
Applications are invited from people who are residents of the Borough of Merton and who have a good knowledge of the Borough and have a keen interest in the local health and social care services. Applicants will need to demonstrate to us how they can make a contribution to the development of Healthwatch Merton.
Applicants will be expected to provide advice in an area of specialism – which may be from professional or personal experience. They must be able to take a broader, objective and strategic approach, understanding and representing the views and voices of all patients and the wider public.
These roles are voluntary positions. Expenses of attending meetings and arising from associated duties are re-imbursed to members.
Application will be by CV plus an accompanying statement (no more than 2 sides of A4) explaining your interest, motivation to apply and demonstrating how you meet the eligibility and person specification.
All applications will be shortlisted by comparing the content of the CV and personal statement against the role and experience requirements. Those shortlisted will then be invited to attend a further information session and group activity.
